St. Martin’s Press holiday crafting

‘Tis the season for holiday crafts! Here at St. Martin’s Press, we got into the spirit of things and booked a conference room for some good, old-fashioned lunch-hour crafting. We used old galleys and magazines to create some festive gift bows and ornaments, and even crocheted some snowflakes from Caitlin Sainio’s 100 Snowflakes to Crochet.

It’s pretty amazing what you can make with a little glitter, some office supplies, and some leftover paper—which we have PLENTY of!

Papercrafting snowflakes, stars, and flowers!

And at the other end of the conference table we had some crocheters trying their hand at snowflake making:

The results of a lunch hour spent crafting and laughing with coworkers? Some festive office decorations!

Paper stars, snowflakes, and bows, oh my!

Here’s hoping you’re inspired to craft something special! Happy holidays!

I'm an assistant editor at St. Martin's Press. I caught the crafting bug when I was little and I wouldn't let my parents leave the store without buying me a crafting kit---any crafting kit! I wove baskets, folded origami, made jewelry, and painted glass. I'm an avid, but impatient knitter, so I'm always choosing projects that I can finish over a weekend. I also love to cook and bake. When I'm not working in the office working on craft books, my weekend consists of , well...making something with my hands. I'm usually scouring whatever's fresh at the farmer's market or food co-op, trying out new recipes, and working on my latest craft project.

Author of the Month

This month we sit down for a Q&A with Molly Goodall, artist, designer, creator of the unique children’s clothing brand, Little Goodall, and author of Wild Things to Sew and Wear. Originally from North Carolina, Molly earned her BFA in fashion design from Parsons School of Design in 1997, where she became focused on children’s wear. She then worked as a toy designer in New York before deciding "it would be more fun to be an artist" and moved to North Texas, where she, her husband, and son currently live.
