With the weather changing, it’s time to clear out your closet and add in some lighter, airy, springtime garments. Our new book Bold & Beautiful Easy-Sew Clothes features stylish separates that are easy to sew and flatter every body type. The range of tunics, vests, dresses, jackets, and skirts are versatile, comfortable to wear, and contain a one-size-fits-all construction that’s a cinch to make up. The designs are filled with subtle interesting details, which are highlighted on the pattern pages of the book, from pleats to pockets and drawstrings, and author Habibe Acikgoz provides concise instructions to for how to add these details and get the right fit for your garments.

The 15 designs in the book contain step-by-step instructions, pattern pages for reference in the back of the book, plus a CD which contains all the patterns for you to print out in full size at home! A Pockets section provides clear directions for how to add a range of these practical design elements to your garments for added interest. The Easy-Sew Techniques are straightforward and easy to follow, so you can do everything from sew simple seams to add facings and finishings.

Check out a sampling of pages from this fantastic illustrated book below. I hope you like what you see and are inspired by the modern, swinging silhouettes that Habibe is known for.

I'm an assistant editor at St. Martin's Press. I caught the crafting bug when I was little and I wouldn't let my parents leave the store without buying me a crafting kit---any crafting kit! I wove baskets, folded origami, made jewelry, and painted glass. I'm an avid, but impatient knitter, so I'm always choosing projects that I can finish over a weekend. I also love to cook and bake. When I'm not working in the office working on craft books, my weekend consists of , well...making something with my hands. I'm usually scouring whatever's fresh at the farmer's market or food co-op, trying out new recipes, and working on my latest craft project.

I wish you had added better pictures. I am in the process of making the gathered skirt. Connect pieces a to b, b to c, c to d, d to e…that’s where I’m perplexed. the notches don’t match and it simply looks wierd. Am I connecting d to e according to the single notch? (2) The “marking” for the bottom of the skirt that are supposed to be “tucks” are they the small notches at the bottoms of 2, 4 and 5?…the tuck is stitched on the outside of the skirt and how long should the tucks be? Is there a “hotline” telephone number for this book?

I’ve been seeing garments from your book assuming a 5/8″ seam allowance. Is that correct? I can’t find any reference to that info in the book. Thanks.
